Molasses Cake Recipe
- 1 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 to 1 1/2 tbsp. Crisco
- 2 Large eggs
- 1 c. molasses
- 1 c. hot water
- 1/2 c. minced nuts
- 1/2 c. raisins
- 2 1/4 c. flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoon soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- Cream together till light and fluffy, sugar, Crisco, Large eggs.
- Add in molasses add in water to molasses c. to get all the molasses out add in to mix well.
- It may look runny, do not worry.
- Sift together all dry ingredients.
- Fold into cream mix till well blended.
- Add in nuts and raisin.
- Bake at 350 degrees in 13 x 9 pan, greased and flour for 25 to 35 min.
- Serve hot with whip cream or possibly applesauce or possibly lemon sauce.
- Substitute one can unsweetened applesauce for molasses and water for applesauce spice cake.
