Meat Loaf - Italian Style
- 2 lb. lean ground beef
- 3/4 c. toasted wheat germ
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/4 c. catsup
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. dried oregano, crumbled
- 1 tsp. dried basil, crumbled
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 lb. natural Mozzarella cheese, cut in 1/4-inch cubes
- Combine all ingredients, except cheese.
- Add cubed cheese and mix well.
- Pack into an 8 1/4 x 4 1/2 x 2 3/4-inch pan or shape into a loaf in a 13 x 9-inch pan.
- Push all cheese cubes into loaf.
- Bake in 350u0b0 oven about an hour or until done.
- Remove from oven and spread top with catsup.
- Return to oven for 5 minutes. This can be served hot or cold.
- Serves 6 to 8.
