Old Fashioned Cream Pie
- 12 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups half-and-half (cannot use 2% milk)
- 14 cup cornstarch
- 1 pie crust, prepared (baked)
- nutmeg
- Melt butter in double boiler.
- Mix in sugar into butter.
- Mix 1/4 cup of half and half with cornstarch.
- Add remaining half and half to double boiler butter/sugar mix.
- Stir in half and half/cornstarch into the butter/sugar/half and half combination.
- Heat over med-low heat, stirring constantly until thickens.
- Pour into baked pie shell, lightly sprinkle with nutmeg (for garnish).
- Bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes.
- Refrigerate.
- FOR MICROWAVE - mix ingredients together in safe bowl, microwave for 10 minutes, stirring at 2 minute intervals until thick.
- Pour into prepared shell, sprinkle with nutmeg and bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes.
