Grilled Garden Burgers

  1. In a large bowl combine the egg white, bread crumbs and, if using beef, 2 tablespoons water.
  2. Stir in the carrot, onion, green pepper, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add the ground meat and parmesan cheese and mix well.
  4. Shape meat mixture into four 3/4-thick patties.
  5. Prepare an outdoor grill for barbecue.
  6. When the coals are ready, grease a cold grill rack with nonstick cooking spray and place the rack on a grill.
  7. Grill the burgers over medium coals for 7 minutes.
  8. Turn and grill 8-11 minutes or until no pink remains.
  9. Place 1 tomato to slice on each burger and grill 1 minute longer.
