Apple Cake With A Subtle Tea Flavor

  1. Have all the ingredients ready to go.
  2. Crack the egg into a bowl and add sugar.
  3. Whisk well.
  4. Add vegetable oil to the step 2 mixture.
  5. Whisk some more.
  6. Add the milk also, and mix again.
  7. Add the sifted cake flour and baking powder into the bowl.
  8. Change to a rubber spatula, and fold the flour in.
  9. Remove the black tea leaves from the tea bag and add them into the batter.
  10. Mix to combine.
  11. Cut up 2/3rds of the apple into wedges and slice thinly.
  12. Add this to the batter.
  13. Reserve the other 1/3 of the apple to use as topping.
  14. Pour the batter into a cake pan lined with kitchen parchment paper.
  15. Scatter the reserved apples on top, and press them into the batter lightly with your fingers.
  16. Bake in a preheated 170 C oven for about 40 minutes.
  17. If a bamboo skewer inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean, the cake is done.
