Grandma Mary's Polenta Recipe

  1. In large sauce pan bring water and salt to boil.
  2. Slowly stir in cornmeal and keep stirring till meal thickens.
  3. Cover, and reduce heat; simmer for about 20 min, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir 1/2 of cooked cornmeal into greased baking dish.
  5. Spread half of cheese and 1 c. of sauce over meal.
  6. Dot with 2 Tbsp.
  7. butter.
  8. Spread remaining meal, cheese, sauce and butter over first layer.
  9. Bake at 375 degrees for about 15 min.
  10. Serves 4.
