Pea and Ham Soup

  1. Combine water, split peas, onion, carrot, garlic, salt and pepper in a large heavy-based saucepan.
  2. Bring to boil over high heat.
  3. Reduce to low, cover and simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir in peas, simmer covered for 5 minutes or until peas are tender.
  5. Stir in ham, season with salt and pepper if desired and serve.
