Chocolate Pound Cake
- 3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 c. butter, softened
- 1/2 c. soft shortening
- 3 c. sugar
- 5 eggs
- 1 1/4 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. grated unsweetened chocolate
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Sift flour with cocoa, baking powder and salt; set aside. Lightly grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- In a large bowl, beat at medium speed, butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
- Add eggs, one at a time.
- With mixer at low speed, beat in flour mixture in 4 additions alternately with milk in 3 additions, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
- Add grated chocolate and vanilla. Bake for 1 hour and 15 to 20 minutes or until tester comes out clean.
- Let cool 10 minutes, then turn from pan.
