Macaroni And Cheese Italian Style
- 1 (8 oz.) pkg. shell macaroni
- 1/2 lb. sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 medium onion, sliced thin
- 1 (No. 303) can tomatoes
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. crushed basil
- 1/8 c. water
- 1/8 c. oil
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 1/8 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1/8 c. flour
- Heat oil in large skillet.
- Saute onion and garlic until light brown.
- Stir in tomatoes, sugar, salt, pepper and basil.
- Simmer 10 minutes.
- Make a paste of water and flour.
- Add to tomato mixture, stirring until smooth and thickened.
- Remove from heat. Add grated cheese and stir until melted.
- Combine cooked macaroni and place in greased casserole.
- Bake, uncovered, at 350u0b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
