Marble Cheddar Burgers with Mushrooms and Onions

  1. Heat barbecue to medium heat.
  2. Mix meat and 3 Tbsp.
  3. barbecue sauce just until blended; shape into 8 thin patties, each about 1/4-inch thick.
  4. Spoon 2 Tbsp.
  5. cheese onto centre of each of 4 patties; cover with remaining patties.
  6. Pinch edges together to seal.
  7. Grill 7 to 9 min.
  8. on each side or until done (160 degrees F), brushing with 2 Tbsp.
  9. of the remaining barbecue sauce and topping with remaining cheese for the last 2 min.
  10. Meanwhile, heat oil in large skillet on medium heat.
  11. Add mushrooms and onions; cook 10 min.
  12. or until onions are crisp-tender and mushrooms release most their liquid, stirring occasionally.
  13. Stir in remaining barbecue sauce.
  14. Add buns, cut sides down, to barbecue grate; grill 1 to 2 min.
  15. or until lightly toasted.
  16. Fill with lettuce, vegetables and burgers.
