Noz' Chicken Biryani
- 2 cup Rice
- 1 1/2 cup soaked Lentils
- 1 salt
- 4 tbsp Spice for Rice
- 8 piece chicken
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 olive oil
- 2 tbsp Cumin powder
- 1 tsp Steak Spice
- 2 tbsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Chicken spice
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 curry leaves
- 2 tbsp curry powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 mustard seeds
- 1 garlic and ginger paste
- 1 potatoe
- 1 Onions chopped
- 1/2 Green pepper
- Soak Lentils at least for 4 hours
- Wash chicken pieces and then add these spices and marinade with sour cream.
- Set aside for 4 hours minimum
- To cook: Wash rice and drain your lentils and add to rice and boil with seasoned water.
- When boiling, add spice for rice and let the rice cook.
- Once the rice and lentils are cooked drain water and set aside.
- NB, do not over cook rice
- Heat olive oil, add mustard seeds, garlic and ginger, cumin seeds, curry leaves and a little bit of coriander powder.
- Make sure it does not burn so reduce heat once the olive oil is hot.
- Once the garlic is tender, not burned, add chicken mixture in
- Let it cook until onoins are soft and changed colour
- Add curry powder and papprika, let it cook 5 min, then cut potatoe into half and chuck it in.
- Simmer until chicken and potatoe is cooked and to maintain the juice keep it on the low medium heat.
- Once cooked mix rice in and simmer on a low heat for 10 min then move it from the stove and set aside for at least 5 minutes before serving
