Cinnamon Toast Cobbler

  1. Drain peaches, reserving 1 cup syrup.
  2. Combine cornstarch and salt; slowly blend in reserved syrup.
  3. Cook and stir until mixture comes to boiling.
  4. Reduce heat; cook and stir 2 minutes.
  5. Add lemon juice, 1/4 cup butter and peaches.
  6. Heat just to bubbling. Turn into a 10 x 6 x 1 1/2-inch baking dish.
  7. Cut bread lengthwise into 1-inch strips; dip into 1/4 cup melted butter, then into a mixture of sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  8. Arrange over peaches. Bake at 375u0b0 for 25 minutes, or until toasty.
  9. Makes 6 servings.
