Fruit Cake
- 1/2 lb. butter or Crisco
- 1 1/2 lb. brown sugar
- 8 eggs
- 1 1/2 lb. flour (about 8 c.)
- 1 tsp. soda
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 tsp. allspice
- 2 tsp. cloves
- 2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 lb. seeded raisins
- 1 lb. currants
- 1 lb. mixed fruit cake mix
- 1 lb. citron, shredded
- 1 lb. figs
- 1 lb. dates
- 1/2 c. molasses or dark Karo
- 1 c. apple sauce or any kind of preserves (strawberry or cherry)
- 1/2 c. sweet milk
- 1 c. sherry wine
- Mix everything together and bake in a well-greased and floured pan, lined with heavy paper.
- Bake at 300u0b0 for 4 hours.
