Fruit Cake

• 1/2 lb. butter or Crisco
• 1 1/2 lb. brown sugar
• 8 eggs
• 1 1/2 lb. flour (about 8 c.)
• 1 tsp. soda
• 2 tsp. baking powder
• 2 tsp. cinnamon
• 2 tsp. allspice
• 2 tsp. cloves
• 2 tsp. nutmeg
• 1 tsp. salt
• 1 lb. seeded raisins
• 1 lb. currants
• 1 lb. mixed fruit cake mix
• 1 lb. citron, shredded
• 1 lb. figs
• 1 lb. dates
• 1/2 c. molasses or dark Karo
• 1 c. apple sauce or any kind of preserves (strawberry or cherry)
• 1/2 c. sweet milk
• 1 c. sherry wine

1. Mix everything together and bake in a well-greased and floured pan, lined with heavy paper.
2. Bake at 300u0b0 for 4 hours.
