Ham And Cheese Strata
- 1/3 c. butter, softened
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 12 slices white bread, crusts removed
- 2 c. Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 1/2 c. diced ham, cooked
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 1 tsp. salt
- dash of red pepper
- 6 eggs
- 2 c. milk
- 1 c. chopped mushroom (optional)
- 1 box chopped frozen broccoli (optional)
- Mix butter and garlic.
- Spread over each slice of bread.
- Cut each slice of bread in cubes.
- Press into bottom of 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan with buttered sides down.
- Mix remaining ingredients; spread evenly in dish.
- Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours (or you may fix this recipe in the evening and let it refrigerate overnight).
- Bake, uncovered, in 325u0b0 oven until knife inserted in center comes out clean, about 1 1/4 hours. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.
- Makes 6 servings, 475 calories per serving.
