Golden Pound Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 325u0b0.
  2. Grease and flour a heart ring mold or 2 (9-inch) round cake pans.
  3. In large mixing bowl, cream butter. Add sugar gradually and cream until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well between each egg.
  5. Sift flour with baking powder and salt.
  6. Add alternately with milk to egg and sugar mixture, beating between each addition.
  7. Mix in vanilla and almond flavoring.
  8. Pour into prepared pan and bake on center rack in oven at 325u0b0 for 55 to 60 minutes for heart ring mold or 25 to 30 minutes for round cakes or until tender.
  9. Come clean.
  10. Cool on rack for 10 minutes.
  11. Trip crown if necessary and invert on plate on rack to cool.
  12. Outline the plate with whipping cream.
  13. Fill in with canned cherry pie filling or fresh fruit.
