Black Forest Trifle Dessert Recipe

  1. Prepare cake mix according to package directions; cut into 1/2 inch slices.
  2. Line bottom of 2 qt bowl of trifle dish with half of cake slices; sprinkle with 2-4 tbsp.
  3. rum.
  4. Spoon half of cherry pie filling over cake; top with half of choclate pudding.
  5. Repeat procedure with remaining cake, rum, pie filling and custard.
  6. Cover and chill.
  7. Beat whipping cream till foamy; gradually add in powdered sugar, beating till soft peaks form.
  8. Spread over custard; garnish with almonds.
  9. CHOCOLATE CUSTARD: Combine first 3 ingredients in top of double boiler.
  10. Combine Large eggs and lowfat milk, gradually stir into dry mix.
  11. Bring water in double boiler to a boil, reduce heat to low and cook custard, stirring constantly till thick.
  12. Cold.
  13. Dessert yields 6-8 servings.
