Old-fashioned Buttermilk Pie

  1. Preheat oven to 400F.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mix together sugar, flour, and salt.
  3. Add melted butter and mix with a wooden spoon until well-mixed.
  4. Add vanilla and mix in well.
  5. Add eggs and mix in well.
  6. Add buttermilk, a little at a time, mixing well each time, until all buttermilk has been mixed in.
  7. Pour filling into pie crust.
  8. Bake at 400F for 10 minutes.
  9. Then reduce heat to 350F and bake for another 50-60 minutes, or until the pie is golden brown and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow to cool for a while before serving.
  11. Pie can be served warm or cold.
