Vermont Apple Cobbler Recipe

  1. Pare and core apples; slice thin.
  2. Drop into 1/2 c. maple syrup; stir to coat apples.
  3. Spread proportionately in greased shallow 2-qt baking dish.
  4. Cream butter to consistency of mayonnaise; add in sugar while continuing to cream.
  5. Beat in egg.
  6. Mix and sift flour, NPS, baking pwdr, and salt.
  7. Add in alternately with lowfat milk to butter-sugar mix.
  8. Spoon over apples, spreading smoothly with rubber spatula.
  9. Bake in 400 degree oven 30-35 min or possibly till topping is golden and cake tester comes out clean.
  10. Serve hot plain or possibly with additional maple syrup or possibly with whipped cream.
