Noel Wreaths

  1. Cream butter or margarine and sugar until fluffy in large bowl.
  2. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  3. Sift in flour gradually, blending well to make a soft dough.
  4. Measure out 1/4 cup dough and mix with walnuts, corn syrup and maple flavoring in small bowl.
  5. Set aside for filling in next step.
  6. Fit star plate or disk on cookie press. Fill with remaining dough; press out into 4-inch lengths on ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Join ends of each to form a circle. Fill center of each with about a teaspoonful of syrup-nut mixture; decorate with tiny "bows" of cut red and green cherries.
  8. Bake in moderate oven (350u0b0) 15 minutes or until golden.
  9. Remove carefully from cookie sheets; cool on wire racks.
  10. Store with waxed paper or transparent wrap between layers in container with tight-fitting cover.
