Grandmother'S Spaghetti

  1. Heat oil in heavy large pan over medium heat.
  2. Add onion and garlic; saute until onion is translucent, about 4 minutes.
  3. Add meat and cook until brown, about 8 minutes.
  4. Drain; mix parsley, bay leaves and basil into meat and cook 2 minutes.
  5. Stir in tomatoes, water, tomato sauce and tomato paste.
  6. Simmer until reduced to sauce consistency, breaking up tomatoes with spoon. Takes about 2 hours.
  7. Season with salt and pepper.
