Christmas Pudding

  1. In a medium bowl, dissolve baking soda in boiling water.
  2. Add grape juice, molasses, oil and egg.
  3. Stir.
  4. In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients, including fruit.
  5. Stir in wet ingredients, which should be fairly easy to pour.
  6. If necessary, add more flour or water to final mixture.
  7. Wrap mixture in a cheesecloth leaving room for expansion.
  8. Place in a steamer over hot water.
  9. Bring water to a boil; reduce heat to very low.
  10. Steam for 3 hours.
  11. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
