Easy! How to De-Sand Manila Clams or Surf Clams

  1. Dissolve the salt in the water to make salt water.
  2. Line the clams on a metal rack place in a tray (see Helpful Hints) without overlapping.
  3. Pour the salt water over them until the tops are just sticking out.
  4. Cover with a newspaper and place in a dark place for 1-2 hours.
  5. This is for using clams bought at the supermarket.
  6. Rub the shells together as you rinse with water and then you can use them in your cooking.
