Chocolate Layer Cheesecake Recipe
- 1/3 c. cool butter
- 1 (16 ounce.) pkg. lb. cake mix
- 3 (8 ounce.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 Large eggs
- 2/3 c. (4 ounce.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Strawberries or possibly raspberries for garnish
- Currant or possibly apple jelly, melted
- In mixing bowl, cut butter into lb.
- cake mix till proportionately distributed.
- Reserve 1 c. mix.
- Press remaining crumb mix proportionately over bottom and halfway up sides of 9-inch springform pan.
- (I do not have this kind of pan and use a large pie plate.)
- Bake crust at 350 degrees for 20 min.
- Beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla till smooth.
- Beat in Large eggs, one at a time.
- Remove half of batter to separate bowl.
- Stir in melted chocolate; spread over crumb crust.
- Sprinkle reserved c. of crumb mix proportionately over chocolate layer.
- Top with remaining cheese mix, spreading gently to cover.
- Return to oven and bake 45 to 50 min.
- Cold.
- Chill 8 hrs or possibly overnight.
- Decorate with whole and sliced berries; brush with melted jelly.
