Gently Flavored Sour Chicken

  1. Chop up the pepper roughly.
  2. Cut up the carrot into thin pieces.
  3. Cut the onion in half and cut into wedges.
  4. Combine the ingredients.
  5. Cut the chicken diagonally into bite sized pieces.
  6. Sprinkle the chicken with a little salt and 1 tablespoon of katakuriko (not listed) and massage well into the chicken.
  7. Heat some oil in a frying pan and pan fry the chicken.
  8. Take the chicken out when it turns pale.
  9. Stir fry the vegetables.
  10. When the onion is translucent, wipe out any excess fat in the pan, add the ingredients and bring to a boil.
  11. Add the chicken; after simmering for a bit the sauce will thicken.
  12. It's also delicious to use cut-up leftovers from the previous night's karaage.
