Spicy Butterscotch Bars
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup Land O Lakes Butter, softened
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup Land O Lakes Butter, melted
- 2 Land O Lakes Eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
- 3 tablespoons Land O Lakes Butter
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 to 3 teaspoons hot water
- Pecan halves, if desired
- Heat oven to 350F.
- Combine all crust ingredients in bowl.
- Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed.
- (Mixture will be crumbly.)
- Press crust mixture onto bottom of ungreased 13x9-inch baking pan.
- Bake 12-15 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
- Combine all filling ingredients in bowl.
- Spoon over hot, partially baked crust.
- Bake 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cool completely.
- Melt 3 tablespoons butter in heavy 2-quart saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, 3-5 minutes or until butter just begins to brown.
- (Watch closely.)
- Cool 5 minutes.
- Combine browned butter and all remaining glaze ingredients except water in bowl.
- Beat at medium speed, adding enough hot water for desired glazing consistency.
- Spread glaze over cooled bars.
- Let stand 5 minutes.
- Cut into bars.
- Top each bar with pecan half, if desired.
