Scripture Cake(King James)
- 1 c. butter (Judges 5:25)
- 3 c. brown sugar (Jeremiah 6:20)
- 6 eggs (Isaiah 10:14)
- 1/4 c. honey (Exodus 16:31)
- 3/4 c. water (Genesis 24:17)
- 3 1/2 c. whole wheat flour (1 Kings 4:22)
- 1/8 tsp. salt (Leviticus 2:13)
- 4 tsp. baking powder (Amos 4:5)
- 1/4 tsp. each: cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and mace (1 Kings 10:10)
- 1/8 tsp. allspice (1 Kings 10:10)
- 2 c. raisins (1 Samuel 30:12)
- 2 c. chopped Smyrna figs (1 Samuel 30:12)
- 1 c. chopped almonds (Genesis 43:11)
- The easiest way to make this big cake is to cream softened butter and sugar with an electric mixer.
- Add eggs, one by one, then honey and water.
- In a separate bowl, place all dry ingredients and stir until thoroughly blended.
- Stir in chopped fruit and nuts and finally, the butter/sugar mix.
- Beat well and pour into buttered, lightly floured 9 x 13 x 2 1/2-inch baking pan. Bake at 325u0b0 for 1 1/2 hours.
- Start checking, however, when cake has been baking for an hour.
- This cake will serve 30 to 40!
