Fudge Brownies

  1. Combine shortening and chocolate in top of a double boiler; bring water to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat to low; cook until chocolate melts.
  3. Add sugar, stirring well.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla; stir well.
  5. Stir in flour and salt and mix thoroughly.
  6. Remove chocolate mixture from heat and stir in pecans.
  7. Spread batter into a well-greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  8. Bake at 400u0b0 for 20 minutes.
  9. Cool; cut into squares.
  10. Serve with fudge sauce and whipped topping.
  11. Makes about 3 dozen.
