Mini Bao Burgers with Savory Steak Sauce
- Spicy Steak Sauce
- 1-2/3 cups A.1. Thick & Hearty Steak Sauce
- 3/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 2-1/2 Tbsp. TAPATIO Hot Sauce
- Crispy Fried Green Onions
- 2-1/2 qt. tempura batter mix, prepared
- 2-1/2 tsp. ground white pepper
- 75 each green onions, each trimmed to 6-inch lengths, cut lengthwise in half
- Burgers
- 2/3 cup Chinese five-spice powder
- 6-1/2 Tbsp. sugar
- 5 tsp. salt
- 75 each mini beef patties (80/20), 1-1/2 oz. each
- 75 each Chinese steamed mini sandwich buns (2-1/2-inch wide), split
- 1-1/4 cups fresh Thai basil leaves
- 150 slices canned pear slices in syrup, drained Safeway 1 lb For $1.88 thru 02/09
- 10 each plum tomatoes, cut into 8 slices
- 1-1/4 qt. alfalfa sprouts
- Spicy Steak Sauce Mix ingredients until well blended; set aside.
- Crispy Fried Green Onions Mix tempura batter and pepper.
- Dip onions into batter, turning to evenly coat.
- Deep fry in 350 degrees F oil 30 to 40 seconds or until crisp; drain.
- Burgers Mix five-spice powder, sugar and salt.
- For each serving Rub about 1/2 tsp.
- spice mixture over each of 3 beef patties; cook on medium-high heat 5 min.
- on each side or to medium (160 degrees F) or desired doneness.
- Top bottom half of each bun with 3 or 4 basil leaves, about 1 oz.
- pears, 1 burger, 1 tomato slice, 1 Tbsp.
- sprouts and 1-1/2 tsp.
- of Spicy Steak Sauce.
- Cover with tops of buns.
- Serve with 6 Crispy Fried Green Onions.
