Chocolate Maple Cookies

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and brown sugar.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Beat in vanilla and maple flavoring.
  4. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  5. Drop by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto greased baking sheets.
  6. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes or until edges begin to brown.
  7. Remove to wire racks to cool.
  8. For frosting, melt chocolate and butter in a microwave or heavy saucepan.
  9. Add sugar and milk; mix well.
  10. Frost cooled cookies.
