English Plum Pudding
- 3/4 lb. bread crumbs
- 1 lb. butter
- 1 lb. raisins
- 1 lb. currants
- 1/4 lb. citron
- 1/4 lb. orange peel
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. mace
- 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp. allspice
- 8 eggs
- 1 c. whiskey
- 1 c. wine
- 1 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- Mix well the dry ingredients with butter (except flour and soda).
- Beat eggs well and add whiskey and wine.
- Mix well. Last, add flour and soda, sifted.
- Mix.
- Makes about 6 pounds. Boil 8 to 10 hours.
- Place mixture in coffee cans; set in boiling water.
- It's an all day affair.
- May be topped with brandy and taken to the table flaming.
- Serve with Hard Sauce.
