Firecracker Brownies
- 3/4 c. butter or margarine, melted
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 c. coarsely chopped nuts
- 1/2 c. cocoa
- Heat oven to 350u0b0.
- Grease an 8-inch square pan.
- In bowl, stir together butter, sugar and vanilla.
- Add eggs; with spoon, beat well.
- Stir together flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Gradually add to egg mixture, beating until well blended.
- Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
- Spread batter evenly into prepared pan. Bake in a 350u0b0 oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan.
- Cool completely in pan or wire rack.
- Cut into bars.
- Makes about 16 brownies.
