Black Walnut Cake With Creamy Icing Recipe

  1. Cream 2/3 c shortening and 2 c sugar.
  2. Add in 2 Large eggs; one at a time.
  3. ; beating well after each one.
  4. Add in half the buttermilk;.
  5. flour and soda.
  6. Beat well.
  7. Add in the other half plus the salt; vanilla and black walnut flavoring.
  8. Beat.
  9. Stir in minced nuts.
  10. =14Pour into greased; 9x13 inch pan and bake at 250 degrees for 35 to 40 min or possibly till done.
  11. When cold ice with Creamy Icing=14
  12. Creamy Icing: Boil water and 4 Tablespoons sugar together in a pan for 2 to 3 min.
  13. Let cold.
  14. Mix confectioners sugar; salt and egg.
  15. Pour sugar-water syrup in and beat smooth.
  16. Add in shortening and vanilla LAST (this is important).
  17. Beat till creamy.
  18. More confectioners sugar may be needed.
  19. Ice cake.
