Black Walnut Cake With Creamy Icing Recipe
- 2/3 c. Shortening
- 2 x Large eggs
- 2 1/2 c. Flour
- 2 tsp Soda
- 1 tsp Black walnut flavoring
- 2 Tbsp. Water
- 2 1/3 c. Confectioners sugar
- 1 x Egg
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 2 c. Sugar
- 2 c. Buttermilk
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 1 c. Black walnuts, minced
- 4 Tbsp. Sugar
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1/3 c. Shortening
- Cream 2/3 c shortening and 2 c sugar.
- Add in 2 Large eggs; one at a time.
- ; beating well after each one.
- Add in half the buttermilk;.
- flour and soda.
- Beat well.
- Add in the other half plus the salt; vanilla and black walnut flavoring.
- Beat.
- Stir in minced nuts.
- =14Pour into greased; 9x13 inch pan and bake at 250 degrees for 35 to 40 min or possibly till done.
- When cold ice with Creamy Icing=14
- Creamy Icing: Boil water and 4 Tablespoons sugar together in a pan for 2 to 3 min.
- Let cold.
- Mix confectioners sugar; salt and egg.
- Pour sugar-water syrup in and beat smooth.
- Add in shortening and vanilla LAST (this is important).
- Beat till creamy.
- More confectioners sugar may be needed.
- Ice cake.
