Lemony Oven Spareribs
- 4 lb. spareribs, cut into 4 rib portions
- 1 c. ketchup
- 1/2 c. chili sauce
- 1/3 c. light brown sugar
- 2 tsp. prepared mustard
- 2 tsp. celery seed
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/8 tsp. red pepper flakes
- 1 c. thin onion slices
- 3/4 c. thin lemon slices
- Heat oven to 450u0b0.
- Arrange ribs in 13 1/2 x 3/4-inch baking dish.
- Roast ribs for 30 minutes; drain.
- Reduce oven temperature to 350u0b0.
- In a 1-quart saucepan, stir together ketchup, chili sauce, sugar, mustard and seasonings.
- Cover; simmer over low heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Pour half ketchup mixture over ribs.
- Layer with half onion and lemon slices.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 30 minutes.
- Top with remaining sauce, onions and lemons. Cover with foil.
- Continue baking 30 minutes.
- Garnish with celery leaves, if desired.
- Makes 8 servings.
