Spaghetti Sauce

  1. Cut up onions and brown lightly in Crisco or oil.
  2. Add chopped pepper and tomato paste; simmer about 5 minutes, stirring very often to keep from burning.
  3. Add 2 cans water for each can of paste.
  4. Add puree and sauce.
  5. Bring to a boil and add a pinch of soda and rest of spices to taste.
  6. If ribs are not used, I add some lightly fried ground beef for meat sauce.
  7. Add meat balls (do not fry first) and cook at least 3 hours over low heat.
  8. Serves 12.
