Applesauce-Raisin Bread

  1. In a bowl, combine egg, applesauce, melted butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar, blending well.
  2. Stir in flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  3. Stir well until smooth.
  4. Stir in raisins and chopped nuts.
  5. Turn batter into a well-greased 5 x 9-inch loaf pan or fluted mold with tube, that holds about 1 quart.
  6. Bake in a moderate 350u0b0 oven for 45 minutes. Cool and frost with light powdered sugar, if desired.
  7. Makes 1 large loaf.
  8. (Bread slices better the second day.)
