German Hamburgers

  1. Heat gas grill to medium or charcoal grill until coals are ash white.
  2. Meanwhile, shape ground beef into 4 (3/4-inch thick) patties.
  3. Place patties on grill.
  4. Grill, turning once, until cooked through (15 to 18 minutes).
  5. To serve, place 1 burger on bottom half of bun; top with 1 slice cheese, 1/4 cup sauerkraut and top half of bun.
  6. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
