Our Family Apple Jam Recipe
- 1 Apple
- 20 grams Sugar
- 1 enough to cover the apple chunks Water
- 5 shakes Lemon juice (bottled lemon juice)
- Prepare the apple.
- Wash, take off the stem end and peel.
- Dice the apple.
- Put the diced apple and just enough water to cover (or a bit less is fine), sugar, and lemon juice into a small pan.
- Simmer slowly over medium heat.
- It will gradually start to bubble.
- When it does, lower the heat immediately.
- This is key!
- The water has reduced to about half.
- We're still not done.
- The apple chunks gradually become translucent and brown!
- A bit more!
- The apple is gradually falling apart and becoming jam-like.
- From here, it's up to your preference.
- If you don't like the apple to fall apart too much, you can turn the heat off now!
- I like to cook it a bit longer so that the apple is falling apart.
- When the apple chunks reach your desired degree of doneness, it's done.
- Transfer to a tight-sealing container and store in the refrigerator.
- You can spoon the jam on yogurt, or just eat it on its own.
- It has a natural sweetness that is so delicious!
