Our Family Apple Jam Recipe

  1. Prepare the apple.
  2. Wash, take off the stem end and peel.
  3. Dice the apple.
  4. Put the diced apple and just enough water to cover (or a bit less is fine), sugar, and lemon juice into a small pan.
  5. Simmer slowly over medium heat.
  6. It will gradually start to bubble.
  7. When it does, lower the heat immediately.
  8. This is key!
  9. The water has reduced to about half.
  10. We're still not done.
  11. The apple chunks gradually become translucent and brown!
  12. A bit more!
  13. The apple is gradually falling apart and becoming jam-like.
  14. From here, it's up to your preference.
  15. If you don't like the apple to fall apart too much, you can turn the heat off now!
  16. I like to cook it a bit longer so that the apple is falling apart.
  17. When the apple chunks reach your desired degree of doneness, it's done.
  18. Transfer to a tight-sealing container and store in the refrigerator.
  19. You can spoon the jam on yogurt, or just eat it on its own.
  20. It has a natural sweetness that is so delicious!
