Waikiki Meatballs

  1. Mixz meat, crumbs, onion, egg, salt, ginger and milk.
  2. Shape mixture into small balls.
  3. Melt 1 tablespoons shortening in a large skillet.
  4. Brown and cook meatballs.
  5. Pour fat from skillet.
  6. Mix cornstarch and sugar.
  7. Stir in reserved syrup from drained pineapple bits, vinegar and soy sauce until smooth.
  8. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and boils.
  9. Boil and stir for 1 minute.
  10. Add meatballs, pineapple bits and green pepper, if using.
  11. heat thoroughly.
