Flank Steak Sandwiches

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F.
  2. Season your steaks with garlic salt on both sides.
  3. Cut both loaves of bread lengthwise and place on a cookie sheet.
  4. Place bread in the hot oven and watch it until its toasted.
  5. Then remove it from the oven.
  6. I cook my steaks outside on the grill over medium high heat; roughly 6 minutes on each side.
  7. When the steaks are finished, allow the meat to rest for about 5 minutes.
  8. Then slice the meat thinly, cutting diagonally to the grain.
  9. (I use an electric knife and cut thin strips diagonal to that grain, which keeps the meat tender.)
  10. Melt your butter (cut up the stick, put it in a glass measure cup and microwave to melt) then add dill weed and stir.
  11. After all of the meat is sliced, place it on the toasted bread.
  12. Then pour the melted dill butter over the meat.
  13. Now fold the loaves shut and slice into sandwiches.
  14. I use the electric knife for this step too.
  15. Just make sure you hold the bread down tight while cutting and theyre ready to serve!
  16. You can check the related blog link for more detailed pictures on how I make these.
  17. Note: 2 loaves will serve 5-6 people.
