Sausage Strata
- 2 lb. bulk pork sausage
- 1/4 c. each: finely chopped red and green pepper
- 6 large eggs
- 4 c. milk
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. yellow mustard
- 12 slices white bread, crusts removed
- 1 lb. shredded Swiss cheese
- 1/8 tsp. ground black pepper
- 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
- Day before serving, grease a 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Saute sausage and green and red peppers until well browned.
- Drain off all fat. Add mustard to mixture.
- Arrange bread in bottom of pan.
- Top with sausage mixture and cheese.
- In large bowl, lightly beat eggs. Beat in milk, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, nutmeg and salt.
- Pour over layers in pan.
- Cover tightly.
- Refrigerate overnight.
- Next day, heat oven to 350u0b0.
- Bake, uncovered, 40 to 50 minutes.
- Serve immediately.
