American Applesauce Cake Recipe

  1. Cream shortening; add in sugar gradually, beating till light and fluffy.
  2. Add in applesauce.
  3. Sift together dry ingredients and add in to creamed mix.
  4. Mix in nuts.
  5. Pour into loaf pan (9 x 5 x 3 inches) lined on the bottom with greased wax paper.
  6. Bake in preheated slow oven (325 degrees F.) for about 1 hour.
  7. Cold for 5 min.
  8. Turn out on rack and peel off paper.
  9. Cold, and frost as desired.
