American Applesauce Cake Recipe
- 1/2 c. Shortening
- 1 c. Firmly packed light brown sugar
- 1 c. Applesauce
- 2 1/4 c. All-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp Baking soda
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Baking pwdr
- 3/4 tsp Apple-pie spice
- 1 c. Minced nuts
- Cream shortening; add in sugar gradually, beating till light and fluffy.
- Add in applesauce.
- Sift together dry ingredients and add in to creamed mix.
- Mix in nuts.
- Pour into loaf pan (9 x 5 x 3 inches) lined on the bottom with greased wax paper.
- Bake in preheated slow oven (325 degrees F.) for about 1 hour.
- Cold for 5 min.
- Turn out on rack and peel off paper.
- Cold, and frost as desired.
