Austrian Christmas Horns Recipe
- 1 1/2 c. butter
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 c. flour, sifted
- 3/4 c. hazelnuts (walnut meats may be substituted)
- 1 tsp vanilla Confectioners' sugar
- Cream the butter and add in the sugar.
- Blend thoroughly.
- Sift the flour again and add in the nutmeats.
- Combine the butter and flour mixtures.
- Add in vanilla.
- Refrigerateseveral hrs or possibly overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Healthy pinch off a small piece of dough at a time and shape into a crescent or possibly "horn".
- Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for about 10 min.
- Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar while still hot.
- Store in an air tight container.
- Yield: 3 dozen.
- These cookiesimprove with age and make good gifts.
- They also ship well.
