taisen's crockpot chili
- 2 lb of hamburger
- 2 packets of taco seasoning ( any brand )
- 2 big cans of tomato sauce
- 2 big cans of red kidney beans. light or dark. you can add any other beans as well
- 1 chili powder to taste
- 1 to 4 dashes of red pepper flakes
- 1 medium or large onion
- 1 garlic powder to your taste
- 1 butter
- start the crockpot on medium to high.
- add in the sauce a good amount of chili powder and and beans.
- drain half of the juice from the beans but add in half of it.
- I do this with only one of the cans not both
- stir
- add in some garlic powder , red pepper flakes, a little bit of chili powder and one packet of taco seasoning.
- stir well and cover.
- start up the hamburger in a skillet.
- add a small amount of garlic ,some chili powder and one to two sprinkles of red pepper flakes if you want extra spice.
- add almost half of the second packet of taco seasoning.
- cook the hamburger until it is no longer pink.
- when fully cooked add in the rest of the taco seasoning.
- mix well.
- if needed add a small amount of water to it.
- add it into the crock pot
- cut up the onion and add into the crockpot
- stir and let it simmer until your ready to eat.
- I keep mine on high for the first two to three hours.
- then I change it to medium for awhile.
- it depends on what time you want to eat and also if you like the beans tender or firm
- this can sit on low all day long.
- taste taste taste !!
- make it spicier or lighter.
- I sometimes add butter to help with the flavor.
- you don't have to.
- I serve this with butter bread , rolls or cornbread.
