Wicked Jilly Chili
- 1 (28 oz.) can puree or crushed tomatoes
- 1 (28 oz.) can whole plum tomatoes
- 1/2 c. catsup
- 4 Tbsp. chili powder
- 1 to 2 (4 oz.) cans chopped chili or jalapeno peppers
- 3/4 large Spanish onion
- 4 cloves garlic
- 2 to 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 4 dashes red hot sauce
- 1 lb. diet lean beef or ground turkey
- 1/2 lb. ground pork and browned turkey (optional)
- 2 to 3 cans red kidney beans
- In a large pot, cook onion and garlic until soft.
- Add ground meat and stir until just cooked.
- Add all other ingredients except kidney beans.
- Simmer over low heat 1/2 hour.
- Add beans.
- Place in casserole and bake 1/2 hour with Mozzarella cheese grated on top or simmer total 1 hour on stove top, adding beans last 15 minutes.
- Serve with grated Mozzarella cheese.
