Sushi Hand Rolls

  1. Cook the rice with the kombu.
  2. As soon as it's cooked... add the mixed ingredients, and mix with a cutting motion.
  3. Spread the rice into a thin layer, and cover with a damp cloth until cool.
  4. Chop up your choice of filling ingredients, then you're done!
  5. Additional point: Enjoy this Fuku-cha tea to go with it (also for good fortune).
  6. It's made by pouring hot water over umeboshi, salted kombu, and toasted soy beans.
  7. All of these ingredients are all symbolic for luck and are used in celebrations, such as Setsubun.
