Molasses-Ginger Bars

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter or margarine and brown sugar until mixture is light and fluffy.
  2. Add molasses and egg; beat well.
  3. Thoroughly blend flour, baking powder, ginger, salt and baking soda.
  4. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with water; mix well.
  5. Stir in raisins.
  6. Pour mixture into greased 13 X 9 X 2-inch baking pan.
  7. Bake at 350F (180C) F for 20 to 25 minutes.
  8. Cool thoroughly; sift powdered sugar on the top and cut into bars.
