Molasses-Ginger Bars
- 1/2 cup butter softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups flour, unbleached all-purpose
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ginger ground
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 13 cup water
- 1/2 cup raisins, seedless
- 1 x powdered sugar
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter or margarine and brown sugar until mixture is light and fluffy.
- Add molasses and egg; beat well.
- Thoroughly blend flour, baking powder, ginger, salt and baking soda.
- Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with water; mix well.
- Stir in raisins.
- Pour mixture into greased 13 X 9 X 2-inch baking pan.
- Bake at 350F (180C) F for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Cool thoroughly; sift powdered sugar on the top and cut into bars.
