Warm Gingerbread Loaf
- 50 gms/ 2 oz softened butter
- 3 tablespoons golden syrup
- 12 cup sugar
- 12 cup boiling water
- 1 -1 12 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 egg
- 1 cup flour
- 14 teaspoon baking soda
- 12 teaspoon baking powder
- Place butter, syrup, sugar, and boiling water in a bowl and stir gently until the butter is melted.
- Add the egg and whisk briskly.
- Add the sifted dry ingredients and pour into a greased and floured loaf pan.
- The mixture will be quite thin.
- Bake at 350 F for about 30 or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
