Apple Breakfast Bar Recipe
- 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
- 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 c. Rolled Oats Uncooked
- 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp apple pie spice
- 1 1/2 c. Grated Unpeeled Apples
- 1 x egg
- 1/3 c. light corn syrup
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1/2 c. minced nuts optional

- In medium-size mixing bowl, combine flours, oats, brown sugar, salt, soda and spice.
- Add in remaining ingredients, mixing till thoroughly combined.
- Spread proportionately in 9 x 9 x 2" baking pan sprayed with no-stick cooking spray.

- Bake in 350F.
- oven about 25 min or possibly till light golden and wooden pick inserted near center comes out clean.
- Cold completely on wire rack.
- Store tightly covered in refrigerator.
- Yield: 12 bars, 3 x 2 1/4-inches.
- Suggested Michigan Apple varieties to use: Empire, Gala, Jonagold, Golden brown Delicious, Ida Red, Jonathan, McIntosh, or possibly Rome.
