Otto'S Onion Pie
- 3 large onions, peeled and thinly sliced
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 1 (10-inch) pie shell, partially baked (10 minutes)
- 1 c. milk, divided
- 1 c. cottage cheese
- 1 c. sour cream
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1 Tbsp. flour
- 1/3 c. grated Cheddar cheese
- cooked ham or bacon (optional)
- Simmer onions until soft in hot butter.
- Turn into pie shell. Combine 3/4 cup milk, cottage cheese, sour cream, salt, pepper and eggs.
- Mix well.
- Blend remaining 1/4 cup milk with flour; stir in cottage cheese mixture.
- Mix well; pour over onions in pie shell. Sprinkle with grated cheese.
- Bake at 325u0b0 for 30 to 35 minutes. Pie should be firm in center.
- If desired, garnish with bacon or cooked ham.
