Beer Bannock Bread Recipe

  1. Over a campfire, heat sufficient butter to cover the bottom of a large cast-iron skillet by 1/4 inch.
  2. Place flour, sugar, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Stir to combine.
  4. Add in beer, and stir till a soft, sticky dough forms.
  5. Scrape dough into warm pan.
  6. Dip fingers in cooled melted butter, and press bread proportionately into pan.
  7. Cover dough with a thin layer of melted butter.
  8. Cook 10 min.
  9. Flip, and cook till brown, about 10 min more.
  10. Serve topped with a dollop of fruit preserves.
  11. This recipe yields 4 servings.
